The Distinguished Iron City Kings Drag King Troupe was created in May of 2002. 

Earlier that same year Dred, a fantastic gender illusioning/genderfuk performer was in town.  The show he put on was very well attended.  As a result of his eye opening performance, some people in the area started to talk about the creating space for similiar performances all around the city. Jake Arthur( Steel City Leather) and Lyndsey Sickler( Youth Empowerment Project) set to work on creating Pittsburgh's first ever Drag King contest.

With a little over 100 people attending and 7 contestants participating, the show was a complete success.  It was shortly after, the majority of the contestants from Mr. Pittsburgh Pride 2002 contest decided they really wanted to work together to create a scene for the drag king here in Pittsburgh, and so the troupe was created.

The co-fouding members of the troupe are Maycum Dizzy(Mr. Pittsburgh Pride Drag king 2002), Stan D. Rect, Peter Maximus, Phil A. Shio, Jasper Nova, Andrew Genus and Manager/Drag King enthusiast Lyndsey Sickler.
